We are thrilled to be opening our 3rd early education center in the historic, family friendly neighborhood of Portage Park. Nestled in the North West side of Chicago, our beautiful new Portage Park nursery school is close to transportation links and perfectly located for families living in Portage Park, Jefferson Park, and Belmont Cragin.
Stepping Stones, Portage Park features a warm, inviting, safe and nurturing space for your little ones to spend their day. Our Portage Park nursery school includes three classrooms for children aged 15 months to 5 years. Each classroom has our signature light and airy feel that Stepping Stones Nursery School is known for. While our classrooms are purposefully designed for the age of the children they are also curated to be adapted as the children grow and learn.
Our early childhood classrooms all have access to a developmentally appropriate, nature-inspired outdoor classroom located at the back of the building. Our outdoor preschool classroom is fully fenced in and secure, allowing our teachers and children to focus on exploring, creating, and having fun!

We pride ourselves in employing compassionate, nurturing and skilled teachers that have long tenures at Stepping Stones, giving your child consistent leadership and care. All staff undergo extensive background checks, CPR & First Aid Training and receive necessary vaccinations.

For our youngest students, we follow a child-centered, play-based curriculum within beautiful, sensitively organized environments. Our caring teachers will develop an authentic relationship with your child, providing expert observance of their developmental needs.
Stepping Stones schools are meticulously curated to encourage independence, exploration and creativity. Because routine and predictability is important for a young child, we follow a consistent yet flexible schedule to set your child up for success while ensuring all of their needs are met. Within this core routine, we make adjustments to materials and methods as needed, based on new developments and/or interests observed in the children.

Stepping Stones provides a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum. We value child-initiated play using quality open-ended curriculum materials, empowering children to learn essential skills for future learning.

We know it’s hard to drop your little one off in the care of someone else. Open communication is one of our core values. With the help of a mobile app, we update families about bottles, diapers, naps and send photos so that you can go about your day knowing your tiny human is well cared for.
