Victoria Hilton, Our Founder
Originally from England, Victoria is a certified primary school teacher with over 20 years teaching experience in the private and public sector. She has been described as an ‘innovative and enthusiastic teacher’ with proven results. Victoria was a lead kindergarten teacher in the English public school system for 6 years where she specialized in early years education, environmental education, and Special Educational Needs. This was followed by 5 years at the British School of Chicago, where her roles included Leader of the Special Educational Needs and Gifted & Talented program.
Victoria is passionate about environmental education and was awarded a European Silver Flag award by the Eco-Schools organization for her work with young children.
A mummy of three boys, Victoria opened Stepping Stones Nursery School in September 2012. Stepping Stones has provided opportunities to pursue Victoria’s two great passions: early childhood education and environmental education. In 2014, Stepping Stones Nursery School gained Nature Explore certification for its nature-based playground, in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the teachers, children, and families of Stepping Stones. In 2015 Victoria was awarded the ‘Innovative Entrepreneur’ Award from the Women’s Business Development Center. Victoria is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business program and is proud to be the owner of a small business rooted in her local community of Logan Square.
